Pre Destination wedding photography in Palma De Mallorca, Spain

Engagement Photography Spain

Mochito, Palms, 32 Degrees, Sony A9 tests, No Sleep, Missed Flight (Almost), 1am Pizza on the beach, Gelato Ice Creams.

Sometimes I have the pleasure of being asked to photograph a pre destination wedding photography session, this was the case when Jodie who is the wedding coordinator for Eastnor Castle asked me to accompany her with the groom to be (Dale) to Palma De Mallorca in Spain. We arrived at Birmingham airport on one of the busiest weekends of the year with 2 hours to spare before the flight. I only had 90 minutes sleep in the last 24h as I had been the photographer at 2 weddings that weekend so I was extremely tired! At one point, we thought we wouldn’t make the flight as all the systems were down, however Jodie who is super organised managed to get us checked in at another desk.

We arrived in Palma De Mallorca and our initial plan was to take a 2h nap before the photoshoot, however we decided to have a few espresso cups by the pool at our hotel, a quick shower and we were ready to rock and roll. Quite surprisingly it was an overcast day (our luck as it was super sunny 6 days in advance). We went for a long walk around the city and discovered an amazing Gelato place with the best ice creams I have ever had! Nothing compares to it honestly!

It was so hot and humid I couldn’t see what I was doing – I had sweat in my eyes and it was difficult to look through a camera view finder, this was also my first time shooting with my brand-new camera Sony A9 and I was so looking forward to what this new bad boy can do. I was amazed by the new technology they manage to squeeze in such a little camera body – it was really fun to shoot with.

We visited the Palma’s old town and ended up on the beach after the sunset which resulted in a few mochitos, peronis and whisky, afterwards we visited the old town and had pizza on the bench at 1am. We woke up the day after to a beautiful blue-sky day, it was even hotter and I was sooo wet (especially carrying my equipment), we then drove back to the hotel for a quick lunch and a shower prior to our flight back to the UK. It was an amazing time in Spain with two super lovely people and I can’t wait to do more Destination Weddings this year.
