Jarvis and Alex’s Hampton Castle Wedding

Hampton Castle Wedding

Hampton Castle is one of those venues that instantly makes you slow down and take it all in. From the moment you arrive, you’re surrounded by history, beautiful grounds and that peaceful countryside atmosphere that Herefordshire does so well. It’s an area I feel incredibly lucky to work in, with rolling landscapes, charming villages and some truly special wedding venues all within easy reach.

Being based in the West Midlands means I get to visit Hampton Castle regularly, and I’m also proud to be one of their recommended suppliers. It’s a place I know well, which makes such a difference on the day – knowing the best spots for portraits, how the light moves through the gardens, and where those little hidden corners are that couples always love. Every Hampton Castle wedding has its own feel, but they all share that same sense of relaxed elegance that makes the venue so popular.

Jarvis and Alex were treated to the most beautiful weather, with sunshine from start to finish and that soft, warm light that photographers dream of. The castle, the gardens, the Herefordshire countryside and an amazing couple – it all came together perfectly for a day that was an absolute joy to capture, and a Hampton Castle wedding I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.

I’ve had the pleasure of being a Hampton Castle Wedding Photographer on several occasions, and it’s always a venue I look forward to returning to. Even though I know the castle and its grounds inside out, I approach every wedding as something completely unique. Every couple has their own story, their own way of celebrating, and I make it my mission to capture those individual moments rather than following a rigid formula. No two Hampton Castle Weddings are ever the same, and that’s what makes each day so exciting.

On the morning of the wedding, I usually arrive about three hours before the ceremony. This gives my couples plenty of time to get comfortable with having me around, so the moments I capture feel natural and relaxed. I like to start with some establishing shots of the castle and the surrounding grounds, taking in the architecture, the gardens, and the light at that particular moment of the day. It’s a small but important way of setting the scene for the story I’m going to tell in the photographs and film.

I always make it a priority to capture both the bride and groom getting ready. These moments are full of anticipation, laughter, and tiny details – the finishing touches on hair and makeup, a father’s nervous excitement, best friends helping with buttonholes – that often become some of the most treasured images of the day. Being able to document these early preparations allows me to tell the full story of the wedding, from the quiet, intimate moments to the big, joyful celebrations later on.

Even though I know Hampton Castle well, I’m constantly looking for fresh angles, new perspectives, and moments that might have been missed before. The combination of a familiar venue with the individuality of each couple’s day is what makes photographing a Hampton Castle Wedding so rewarding. By the time the ceremony begins, I’ve already captured a rich mix of candid moments, beautiful details, and the atmosphere of the venue, ready to continue telling the story through the rest of the day.

Jarvis and Alex chose to have their ceremony in the courtyard, which is hands down one of my favourite spots at the whole venue. It’s such a special space, surrounded by the castle walls and full of character, and it really shows off what makes a Hampton Castle Wedding so impressive. With the sun shining and blue skies above, it honestly couldn’t have been a better setting.

As guests arrived and took their seats, there was such a lovely, calm buzz in the air. The light was perfect, the courtyard looked incredible, and you could really feel the excitement building. It’s one of those spaces that feels both intimate and grand at the same time, and it suits outdoor ceremonies beautifully.

When Alex arrived, everything shifted in the best way. Big smiles, emotional reactions, and that moment where it all suddenly becomes very real. Jarvis’s reaction was brilliant, and these are exactly the moments I love to capture – the nerves, the laughter, the quiet looks between each other before the ceremony even begins.

The ceremony itself was relaxed, personal and full of genuine emotion. There was laughter, a few happy tears, and so much warmth between them. The courtyard gave the whole thing such a special atmosphere, and it was one of those ceremonies where everything just clicks. It was a perfect example of why couples fall in love with the idea of a Hampton Castle Wedding – incredible setting, amazing light and a couple who were clearly meant to be.

After the ceremony, everyone spilled out into the courtyard ready to celebrate, and Jarvis and Alex were greeted with the biggest smiles and a brilliant burst of confetti. These moments are always such a highlight for me – pure happiness, no posing, just genuine reactions and lots of laughter. It was the perfect way to kick off the celebrations and set the tone for the rest of the day.

The drinks reception followed in the grounds, and this is where Hampton Castle really comes into its own. The gardens, the castle backdrop, the open space – it’s all there, and it gives guests plenty of room to relax, chat and enjoy the sunshine. With the weather being so kind to us, everyone was in great spirits, drinks in hand, soaking it all in. This part of the day is all about letting things unfold naturally, and I love quietly capturing those in-between moments – hugs, reunions, and friends catching up.

One thing I always love doing at Hampton Castle is getting the drone up whenever it’s safe and permitted to do so. It’s such an incredible venue from the air, and it gives a completely different perspective on the day – capturing the castle, the gardens and even some of the same moments that are happening on the ground. It adds another layer to the story and really shows the scale and beauty of a Hampton Castle wedding, especially on a sunny day like this when everything looks its absolute best.

We also took a bit of time for some couple portraits, just wandering around the grounds and using whatever spots felt right in the moment. Nothing forced, nothing awkward – just Jarvis and Alex being themselves, enjoying a breather together while I captured them in one of the most beautiful settings Herefordshire has to offer. The light was spot on, the castle looked incredible, and it all felt very easy and relaxed. It’s moments like these that really show the magic of a Hampton Castle wedding – stunning surroundings, space to breathe, and a day that never feels rushed. Everything flowed so naturally, and it was an absolute joy to photograph.

After the drinks reception, everyone headed inside for the wedding breakfast, and the atmosphere was already in full celebration mode. Glasses were being topped up, guests were finding their seats, and there was that lovely background buzz of excitement in the room. Hampton Castle is a great setting for this part of the day, and it all felt warm, relaxed and full of character.

The speeches followed and were the perfect mix of funny, emotional and heartfelt. There were plenty of laughs, a few happy tears, and lots of proud smiles from family and friends. You could really see how much Jarvis and Alex are loved, and those reactions are always some of my favourite moments to capture. By the time the speeches finished, the energy in the room was high and everyone was well and truly ready to carry on celebrating their Hampton Castle wedding.

We also snuck off for a little wander into the gardens to make the most of some of Hampton Castle’s best features. The maze was too good not to use, and it gave us a chance to have a bit of fun and get some more creative shots, with lots of laughs along the way. We then headed up to the tower overlooking the castle, which always delivers incredible views and a totally different perspective of the venue. It was a nice change of pace for Jarvis and Alex – a few quiet moments together, amazing scenery, and some really special images to add to their Hampton Castle wedding story.

As the evening rolled in, the atmosphere shifted in the best possible way. The lights came down, the music went up, and Hampton Castle turned into the perfect party setting. Ties were loosened, heels were kicked off, and everyone was properly in celebration mode. It’s always one of my favourite parts of the day – when people completely forget about the cameras and just enjoy themselves.

Jarvis and Alex’s first dance was a great moment and set the tone for the rest of the night. It didn’t take long for the dance floor to fill up, and from then on it stayed busy. There was loads of energy, plenty of laughter and some very enthusiastic dance moves. I love capturing this part of the day as it’s all completely natural – big hugs, hands in the air, friends singing at the top of their lungs… the good stuff.

And just when everyone thought the night couldn’t get any better, the fireworks started. Guests headed outside and the sky lit up over the castle, creating such a wow moment to end the day. It was one of those scenes where everyone just stops, looks up and takes it all in. A pretty unforgettable way to finish an already incredible Hampton Castle wedding, and the perfect final chapter to Jarvis and Alex’s day.

Jarvis and Alex’s day was one of those weddings where everything just came together – an incredible couple, beautiful weather, an amazing setting and such a great atmosphere from start to finish. From the courtyard ceremony and garden portraits to the packed dance floor and fireworks finale, it was an absolute joy to be part of and to capture. It’s days like this that remind me why I love what I do, and why I never get tired of photographing at this venue.
