When we first met Caryl and Owen the bride and groom in Aberystwyth Wales last year to hear about their wedding plans, we immediately struck up a great working relationship, what a lovely couple!
Caryl and Owen wanted us to photograph every special moment including their engagement, so we planned to take outdoor photos in Aberystwyth, which as you can imagine had to be postponed a few times due to the rain! Eventually we just went for it, as you can see the results were fantastic even with the rain.
Caryl and Owens wedding day started in the beautiful Victorian/Edwardian holiday resort town of Aberystwyth in West Wales, which nestles between three hills and two beaches in Cardigan Bay.
On the morning of the wedding day we were on hand to photograph the preparations of both the bride and groom. The bride and bridesmaids enjoyed hair and makeup at Loganberries and coffee at Starbucks just around the corner, meanwhile the groom took a morning walk along the seafront and town before making his way to the church.
After the early morning start I was treated to a very welcome, large, freshly cooked breakfast at Caryl’s home, whilst she finished her final preparations and got ready into her bridal gown, we then took the stunning scenic route to Cardigan taking in the spectacular views of the bay along the way.
The weather could not have been kinder on arrival at the church, blue skies complementing the bride and bridesmaid’s dresses and sunshine capturing Caryl’s dazzling smile. The ceremony was full of laughter and happiness as Caryl and Owen took their marriage vows.
After the marriage ceremony the bridal party and guests celebrated Caryl and Owen’s marriage at The Cliff Hotel & Spa in West Wales which overlooks Cardigan Bay. I have photographed many weddings in Wales and specifically at The Cliff Hotel. With full use of the Hotel and grounds it is one of my favourite venues as it has a fantastic opportunities to take some stunning and picturesque photographs.
The wedding couple and guests were truly given VIP treatment at The Cliff Hotel, the red carpet was rolled out on arrival and a glass of bubbly and canapes whilst Caryl joined a choir singing much to everyone’s delight.
The terrace at the wedding venue offered a fantastic backdrop for family photos, clear sunny blue skies but fairly windy, guests were then treated to a fabulous wedding breakfast whilst the speeches were made bringing great humour, warmth and wit.
In the evening at the golden hour as the sun was setting, the light was spectacular for photographs of the wedding couple on the cliffs, this is the time of day I love the most for photography and the dramatic location of cliffs, sky, sea and sunset truly made for magical ones.
The wedding celebrations continued into the evening with the time honoured ‘first dance’, the happy couple joined by family and friends had a fabulous time busting some great dance moves. This is one wedding that I shall never forget, full of happiness and joy, thank you Caryl and Owen for inviting us to be your wedding photographers.
Caryl and Owen, thank you for choosing me to be your wedding photographer Wales
