I first met Laura and Matt at a wedding fayre in the West Midlands where I was exhibiting in 2014 and immediately we hit it off, they were looking for a West Midlands wedding photographer that could capture their big day with a natural photographic style, so definitely ‘no cheesy poses’ which was absolutely fine with us, we prefer to tell a story through our photography, to capture ‘real life’ moments as much as possible for people to look back upon in the future and remember the moment or event as it really was.
The next time that we met in 2015, it was to discuss their wedding in greater detail and to photograph their engagement session in Malvern Worcestershire which is a stunning and scenic part of the country, I regard myself very fortunate to be on the doorstep of this extremely photogenic part of the world.
It was then that we learnt that their wedding date would be December 2015 just before Christmas. Winter weddings always pose a bit of a challenge for wedding photographers and worry us a little, as the natural light is fading from 4pm and the weather is more unpredictable than usual to say the least! However, these unusual light conditions often make for very atmospheric photographs. The morning of the big day arrived, so we set off to photograph both Laura and Matt’s wedding preparations, Matt was at The Abbey Hotel and Laura was at her parents’ home in Malvern. The wedding preparations are always fun to photograph and they add a large part of the picture of the whole day for the wedding album. The morning went very smoothly with bride and groom arriving at the spectacular Malvern Priory on time for their ceremony, which was absolutely beautiful, the Priory was built in the 11th century for the Benedictine Monks and holds hundreds of years of history within its stone walls and glorious stained glass windows.
After the ceremony the bride, groom and wedding guests made their way to Deer Park Hall in Worcestershire for Laura and Matt’s wedding reception. Deer Park Hall is set within a 1400-acre estate and is regarded as having one of the top 10 views in the country. The Bredon Room wedding barn where Laura and Matt had their reception overlooks the deer park and looks out over the Malvern Hills making a stunning backdrop for wedding photography. I would also add that their staff are second to none with regards to attentiveness and customer service, they really did everything to make sure that Laura and Matt’s day ran as smoothly as possible.
The wedding breakfast speeches were delightful, charming and very witty, it was clear that everyone loved this couple who were so calm and relaxed throughout the day, making our jobs as West Midland Wedding Photographers a joy. The evening celebrations were so much fun, bride and groom kicked off proceedings with the traditional first dance, they looked so happy, everyone followed suit to the tunes of the DJ and much merriment and dancing was had by all.
